Intrinsically Safe means that the system is incapable of causing an explosion or being a
source of ignition in the presence of potentially explosive or combustible
materials and gases.  In other words, the equipment and wiring are
incapable of releasing sufficient electrical or thermal energy under normal or worst-case
conditions to cause the ignition of a specific hazardous atmospheric mixture in
its most easily ignited concentration. 

No, you shouldn’t, since the entire system runs solely on the 3 AA batteries specified.  To keep the intrinsic safety rating of the system rechargeable batteries are not permitted.

With 2 headsets system – 160- 240 hours,
3 headsets – 108-138 hours,
5 headsets – 64-82 hours,
7 headsets – 46-58 hours,
10 headsets – 27-34 hours.
* The Rescom Elite® has a very unique Low Battery Indicator.   It makes a clicking sound and allows team to continue communicating, even when the low-battery indicator has started to sound.  It alerts all the team members when there is 10% power remaining in the system.

No, but our connectors and ropes are watertight and can also be submerged in water up to 10m (35’), also we have a watertight headset series.

Up to 10 users: 1 principal and up to 9 secondary units.

Our ½” communication rope contains built-in communication wires within its core and has an ultimate tensile strength of 10,800 lb. The Rescom Rope has been tested and certified as being able to maintain communication even while under a test weight in excess of 9,000 lbs. – the standard tensile strength for a two-man rescue rope. (NFPA:  The Rescom® Combined Safety/Communication rope™ is NFPA certified and is compliant with Class-7216 82 (File No.:1548278-224590)

Yes, you can use the Rescom combined safety/communication rope™ as a primary line, but we recommend using it as a secondary safety line. If you need to replace this rope due to a shock load, be aware that it is more expensive than a standard climbing rope.

The maximum range of Safety/Communication Rope™ & cable is an amazing 4.8km (3 miles) per User, which allows the system to be used in long tunnels or pre-wired in a facility.

Ropes are available in standard 100’ (30m), 200’(60m), and 300’(90m) lengths. Other lengths are available by special request (up to 1500’(450m)). To properly manage the long rope or cable we offer the SED Portable Cable/Rope Reel with an integrated junction box.

You can clean the Safety/Communication Rope™ in the same way you clean a standard climbing rope.  For more information use the Rescom® Rope Care Instructions.

We have 2 types of cables: a certified MSHA cable for indoor and outdoor use in mines, and the DuraCORE™ cable with a built-in Kevlar® strength member.

Yes, the Rescom Elite® system is completely RF-immune. This means radios will not interfere with how the system works or the quality of your voice transmission.  The Rescom Elite® system was extensively used by repair crews on the CN Tower, a telecommunications tower that transmits radio and television signals.

Yes, we offer the Acoustic Coupler. It is an inter-operability interface, which allows interconnection between the Rescom Elite system and other communication systems while respecting isolation requirements.

Yes, The Rescom® V-Mic™ allows rescuers to locate and monitor a person trapped without a direct connection, using a high amplification microphone. 

The Rescom Elite® is a hands-free communication system. The interfaces are typically fastened to belts or harnesses, allowing for continuous full-duplex communication without needing to switch buttons.

Yes, the Rescom Responder 5™  is a portable two-way voice intercom that features an amplified speaker, allowing the trainer to give instructions from outside the training area. Meanwhile, the training team can activate the Responder microphone only when needed by pressing the PTT button. The Rescom Responder 5™ helps maintain high situational awareness throughout the training session.
